I don't get to speak much to anyone or that sort of thing
My e-mail is down! Last known to have worked a little after six this morning; after that point, nothing. If anything requires my urgent attention, please send it to my other address or contact me by some other means. I'll edit this post when I am in proper communication with the outside world again. That's all today needed.
[edit] E-mail restored! Still flickery. I seem to have a lot of Facebook notifications.
In other laments of technology:
TELEPORTER. TELEPORTER, PLEASE. THERE IS A PETER LORRE RETROSPECTIVE AT THE BFI.
Seriously, they're showing a print of Der Verlorene (1951). Mad Love (1935) and The Face Behind the Mask (1941) is a brilliant double feature. I've barely even heard of F.P.1 anwortet nicht (1932).
TELEPORTER.
In other contexts of time travel:
Century-old restaurant menus from New York City. I am less interested in the comparative pricing than in the items available. I feel like egg with tarragon and ox tongue might have come around to being trendy again.

I really like him in that film, actually, in part because he's weirder than that heroic naïf. I saw it in 2007. His roles in The Verdict (1946) and Three Strangers (1946) are even better. He and Greenstreet were a magnificent pair.
re: Century-old menus
Actual moral of the story: 1914 menus were surprisingly frequently MORE interesting and diverse than their modern counterparts. Huh.
I am sorry your email is down.

People were a lot less squicked by animal parts in 1914!
I'd order the hell out of the cold buffet at Delmonico's. Also, if anyone knows the difference between the Yorkshire rarebit and the Long Island rarebit (at Grand Central), I am genuinely curious. Do you think it was just the cheeses used?

Thanks. I was out of the house for most of the afternoon and night; it seems to have stabilized by the time I got back, although I've still got messages with weird timestamps trickling in.

Maybe if we all chip in . . .

I would totally eat that. More to the point, I would find myself entirely unsurprised at being offered it, so yeah.
Also, I'm afraid your teleporter is becoming overloaded. The dilithium crystals canna take it, cap'n.

. . . Now I kind of think you should make some.

How do we make it bigger on the inside than the outside?

You're welcome! I'm so glad.
