sovay: (I Claudius)
[personal profile] rushthatspeaks arrived bearing my birthday present, a T-shirt reading "You Had Me at Garum." It is an ornament to my small but treasured collection of classical T-shirts and also happens to be true.

Driving home at the end of the night, I caught a fragment on the radio that turned out to belong to Chalk Talk's "Loveseat" (2022). The song is catchy and the music video cute and queer.

In between these two points, we made dinner and watched nearly the rest of the first season of One Piece (2023–), whose cast continues to amaze me by looking like real people somehow made out of the character designs Rush shows me at the end of every episode. I don't know if it's possible to sweep the Emmys for worldbuilding, but if so, they should.

On the recovered links front, I did not get a chance to post this celebration of the films of Powell and Pressburger in honor of the massive BFI retrospective currently ongoing. I am glad that A Canterbury Tale (1944) has gathered so much love and attention after its neglected beginnings. It still stands a good chance of being my favorite movie.
